Father Daughter Dance and Mother Son Dance
While you and your fiancé are getting stressed about your first dance, chances are your parents are just as nervous about dancing in front of hundreds of guests and family. Why not bring them with you for some dance lessons!
How to choose a father daughter dance or mother son dance song?
Similar to choosing a first dance song, you need to make sure the song is danceable. It shouldn't be too fast or slow and make sure you dance no more than 3 minutes of the song. A minute can feel like forever if you aren't comfortable dancing in front of people. Check out our song suggestions for father/daughter dance and mother/son dance.
How many lessons do we need?
Since everyone has different needs and expectations, the number of lessons you need depends on a few factors, such as how often you are available to take lessons, how fast you learn and how good you want to become. Generally, it is recommended to start taking lessons at least 4 months before the wedding day to ensure you have ample time to learn the skills you need to feel confident dancing at the wedding.
What if my parents are from out of town?
Bring them in for a crash course/ intensive whenever they are in town. Treat it as a fun activity that you do with your parents. Your parents will mostly enjoy the quality time that they get to spend with their children before their big day!
HOW TO SIGN UP
Before your first lesson, I'd like to meet with you for a consultation. During the consultation, we will get to know each other and discuss your vision for your father/daughter and mother/son dance. You will learn a dance basic or two and I will then create a plan of action to help you achieve your goals. The consultation is free of charge and the rates for regular dance lessons range from $60 to $80 per hour depending on the number of lessons you purchase at a time.
